Steel Detailer, Full Time (Hourly)

Nimsgern Steel Corp. is a structural steel fabricator located in Minocqua, WI that is seeking a full-time Steel Detailer to join our team.  The position will be responsible for preparing structural and miscellaneous steel drawings for use in shop production, and field construction.  This is a hands-on position, and the ideal candidate will be creative, self-motivated, communicate well, and have great attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Read structural and architectural drawings, details and schedules

• Modify generated plans, details and drawings to efficiently communicate to shop and job site personnel

• Communicate with customers, manufacturing employees, and Project Managers regarding detailing questions or issues, and prepare Requests for Information

• Prepare drawing submittals, and update shop drawings according to comments received from others

• Generate and interpret CNC files for use in production

• Duties are not considered all inclusive, other duties may be assigned when necessary

 

Required Skills:

 

• Understanding of Steel Detailing, understanding of Tekla or other 3-D modeling software is a plus

• Basic understanding of the structural steel fabrication and construction industries

• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural design drawings and specifications

• Strong understanding of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Must be able to handle multiple and changing priorities, and good time-management skills

• Work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues

• Strong mathematical skills including geometry and trigonometry

• Strong management, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to visualize structural components and assemblies

• Must be able to communicate clearly through written or verbal means whether in person or via phone or email

 

Education / Experience:

 

• Certificate, Diploma, or Associates Degree in a construction related field

• Structural steel detailing experience or coursework is preferred, but not required

• 3-D modeling experience preferred, but we will train the right candidate

 

This job is performed mainly in an office setting, but there will be times when you may be required to go into the manufacturing plant to communicate detailing plans.
